Thunder/Lightning Procedures

In order to ensure the safety of coaches, players and parents in the event of inclement weather, the following procedures must be followed at the first sound of thunder or sign of lightning during practices.

At the first sound of thunder and/or a lightning strike, no matter how far in the distance, the practice fields must be vacated as quickly as possible.  This means that coaches, players and parents should leave the fields and go to their cars.  No one will be allowed back on the field for at least 30 minutes.  If thunder and/or another lightning strike is heard/seen within 30 minutes of the previous incident, the 30 minutes resets.

A decision to close the fields may be made as a result of the incoming storm.  This decision will be made by Brent Shirk, NEYSA Soccer GM, Josh Keefe and/or Eric Garver.

The coaches are responsible for ensuring that their players leave the field in the event of thunder or lightning.
